The Thief Spider of May

1. Folk belief about spider.
2. Boy's festival's story. Carp streamers are hoisted on a pole. But some community people don't hoist that by a legend.

Tea Field in KasedaThe big spider also came to my apartment of a Kamigurusu this year. It is a spider with a high leg. In Kaseda, we call it "Nusuitoko." It is an interesting name. Is it the meaning landlord "Nushi"? Or is it the meaning thief "Nusutto"?

There is the following folklore in the Tamamushino of Kaseda. When the spider has got down at the morning, they say, "A top is a mountain and the bottom is a river." And they apply a hand to the bottom of a spider, and make it go up. Then, if a spider does not go up, it is inauspicious.

What folklore do you know about "the morning spider and the centipede of night"? Also in Kaseda, there are two kinds of views about this. There are people who luck considers are good, and people who think the notice of a misfortune. By the way, the spider of my house is seen mostly at night.

May 5 is Boys' Festival. A spider battle is held in Kajiki-cho on that day. It carries out on Sunday of the beginning in June now. People of this town make it compete for a silk spider on a stick. This spider is called "Yamako" (mountain spider). Kochi Prefecture of Shikoku also has the same event. This event is also a tradition event of this town. The event of the Ichijou shrine of Nakamura-shi.

Now, we hang a carp streamer on a pole in Japan at the time of this festival. It is in fashion to pass many carp streamers on a river recently, rather than to to hang up this in an individual house. Also in Kaseda, this is hung up over the steel tower of NTT Kaseda office, and it is passed on the Kedo River in a Shimokiya.

However, in the Fumoto area in Kaseda, people do not perform this event for the following legend. The horse of the "Jissinkou" which is the hero of Kaseda was surprised at the carp streamer. So, we do not hang up a carp streamer.

Now, the calendar was set to "Hachijuu-hachiya." From the first day of spring, it counts and will be on the night of the 88th. People are very busy with tea picking of the first picking of tea in the place famous for tea in Kaseda, such as a Tetsuyama, Higashiyama, and a Tamamushino.

I am passing with the thief spider of May, and sufficient relations, looking at a carp streamer at a beautiful fresh green season.
