- The fire festival on January 7
Onibitaki is one of the New Year events of Kagoshima. In Kaseda, people call it
Oneppo etc. It is the big fire festival performed at a river side or a crossing.
This has the meaning of a talisman.
- God which springs
The story in January or February. The traditional festival of Ise God in Kaseda. In this city, we call this god a Oisedon, a Oisesan, or Oisesama. And, the festival of this god is called an Ise-kou.
- A Contact to Nature in Spring
We play cherry blossom viewing in spring. It is contact to nature. Moreover, we meet also with a spirit named Kappa.
- Rice planting of a sand hill
A Bansei and Kominato are sand hill zones. There is fields. People conquered serious difficulties and have continued agricultural work.

1. Folk belief about spider.
2. Boy's festival's story. Carp streamers are hoisted on a pole. But some
community people don't hoist that by a legend.
- The vestiges of a sea way
The story in June. About the shipowner of the Kaseda Bansei, and the marine
transportation business of Hyuga Mimitsu.
- Windup Doll Which Runs by Water Wheel
The story in July. About the windup doll using the water wheel in the summer
festival of Kagoshima.
- Typhoon and the Nest of a Bee
The story in August. In Kaseda, people think that it becomes the year with
many typhoons, if the nest of a bee is made in the lower one. I report
the common superstition of the weather.
- A Dragon and Tug of War of the Night with a Full Moon
The story in September. Kaseda has tug of war of two kinds of night with
a full moon called a tsunahiki and a tsunahikizuri. The tsunahikizuri rope drag of the night with a full moon in Kaseda.
- 50 years of a Drum Dance
The autumn festival of Kagoshima is called Hoze. I report the traditional drum dance of this festival. This drum dance
(it is called Taiko Odori or Hozeodori) resembles South Korean tradition entertainments.
