The Drum Dance in Tsunuki
In Kagoshima, an autumn festival is called "Hoze." At Tsunuki,
a traditional drum dance (it is called "Taiko Odori" in Japanese)
is dedicated to this festival. We call the dance "Tsunuki Hoze Taiko
Odori." This is specified to be the cultural heritage of Kagoshima
Prefecture. A dancer consists of a double circle. The dancer of a small
drum and a bell is in an inside circle. The dancer of a big drum is in
an outside circle. The dancer with a small drum and a small bell is the
mysterious boy who disguised himself as a woman.
